Volunteer
opportunities for seniors
- RSVP - This
is the clearinghouse for volunteer activities for older
adults. We are also able to place volunteers in their specific
areas of interest and skills.
-
'Grandparent' to kids - Low income older adults are paired
with troubled, disabled or hospitalized children. A small stipend
is provided.
- Senior
companion to frail elderly - Elderly with physical and emotional
needs receive extra care from low income older adults so they
can be independent in their own homes. A small stipend is provided.
- Senior
mentor/tutor for elementary students - Volunteers mentor and tutor
elementary students who need special attention in area schools.

opportunities for all ages

Advocate for senior issues - Community members work together
to develop and implement strategies to address issues affecting
older people.
- Financial
Consultation for Women 55+
- Women volunteers with professional expertise in financial planning,
accounting, banking, and estate planning counsel older women.
- Visit
nursing home residents - Individuals
and groups lessen the isolation in nursing home residents by visiting
for an hour or a lifetime. Great for school and employee groups.
- Money
management - Assist low-income elderly who have difficulty
managing their daily paying of bills. This service helps seniors
stay independent and in their own homes longer.
- Nursing
Home Ombudsman - Trained volunteers work to improve the quality
of life in nursing homes and assisted living facilities by investigating
complaints, reporting findings and helping to achieve equitable
settlements.

Guardian Advocate for a frail senior -
Volunteers visit and help improve the quality of life of vulnerable
elderly who have been determined to be incapacitated by the probate
courts.

Plan and
give a volunteer recognition for volunteers in the Foster
Grandparent Program or Senior Companion Program. Contact

Collect new
items for frail, low income older adults. (We'll distribute them
to seniors in our community who are in need.) Examples include:
- holding
a canned food drive
- collecting
socks and other undergarments
- collecting
body lotions and other personal care items
- or contact
us to discuss an idea that your group has.
