Whether you love carpentry, making a child smile, fixing computers or nurturing a community garden, RSVP coordinators will connect you to a mission that suits your values --where you can do what you enjoy and improve your community. Join more than 2,100 volunteers who share their experience with almost 200 Dallas and Collin County nonprofit organizations.

Why volunteer through RSVP

RSVP works with almost 200 nonprofit agencies in Dallas and Collin counties that need volunteers. If you are 55+, we match your skills, needs and desires and personally link you with a volunteer job. Whether you're interested in sharing professional skills, tutoring and mentoring children or working on various projects from home, RSVP has a volunteer job for you. The choices for assignments are as boundless as your talents, and you commit as much time as you wish.

Who can be an RSVP volunteer

If you're 55+ years, RSVP is your clearinghouse for volunteer activities. Volunteers may join as individuals or with a group. Individuals under age 55 can also volunteer through RSVP as 'Community Volunteers'. Please contact the RSVP Director at 214.823.5700 or email.

Additional benefits to volunteers

In addition to helping Dallas area nonprofit agencies by sharing your talents, you receive free supplemental accident and personal liability and excess auto liability insurance while volunteering through our program. 

RSVP staff will meet with you at any time during your placement and discuss with you additional or new  opportunities that you may prefer. Volunteers are also kept up to date about the program's new volunteer opportunities through quarterly opportunity flyers, as well as email notifications highlighting one-time and short-term opportunities.

    • Mentoring and tutoring children and adults
    • Making minor home repairs for seniors
    • Nonprofit capacity building
    • Participating on a Boomer Green Team
    • Museum docents and guides
    • Relief services for victims of natural disasters
    • Helping the working poor at a food pantries
    • Building computers for the visually impaired
    • Participating in neighborhood watch programs
       
  • Join a group for projects at a variety of Dallas area nonprofits
     
    • Bulk mailing and assembly projects
    • Stuffing goody bags and leading silent auctions for fundraising events
    • Involvement in The Medicare Patrol
    • Making stuffed animals and blankets for area hospitals and nursing homes
    • Installing CFL (compact fluorescent lightbulbs) ih homes of low-income elderly

Number of agencies served by RSVP volunteers in 2009

In 2009, 2,160 RSVP volunteers’ mental and physical health was improved while 183 nonprofit agencies received 304,737 hours of volunteer service, in activities such as teaching English as a second language, working in food pantries, providing disaster relief, and encouraging childhood immunizations.
