Many
individuals are in the unfamiliar position of caring for aging loved
ones or addressing their own aging needs. Eldercare Specialists
counsel, provide information, and help resolve problems and plan
for the future. Corporate, religious, and community groups benefit
through programs on caring for older parents, lifestyle options,
and community resources.
The Senior
Prescription Assistance Program is a part of the Elder Support Program.
What the Elder Support Program offers
Our Eldercare Specialists help older adults and their caregivers make thoughtful, informed decisions
about housing, health care, finances,
medicare, etc. Eldercare Specialists also assist individuals and caregivers in dealing with the complex emotional issues involved with the process of aging.

Eldercare specialists are available to meet in person or by telephone (214.823.5700). We also encourage people to contact
an Eldercare Specialist by
email. This method is particularly useful for people who live outside the greater Dallas area and want Dallas-specific information on caring for elders.
In addition, educational material on issues related to aging is
available in our resource library. We maintain up-to-date resource information on eldercare services in the greater Dallas area.

Number of people served in 2011
In 2011,
4,683 older adults and their caregivers received
critically needed case coordination, supportive counseling, and help
in developing plans for independence, including assistance with
in-home care, financial assistance, prescription drugs, health care,
and transportation. This assistance helped enable 93% of the clients
receiving five or more contacts to remain independent in their own
homes.
